Established in 1991, the Neurosurgery Spine Center has been committed to the treatment of spine disease.
With the completion of construction of the Spine Hospital building, the Neurosurgery Spine Center is striving for patient care, with the Spinal Neurosurgery Department as a center.
The Spinal Neurosurgery Department has contributed dramatically to the treatment of spinal diseases, becoming the first in Korea to adopt and successfully conduct invasive spinal micro-therapy also referred to as chymopapain injection therapy, artificial disc surgery, endoscopic spinal disc surgery and graft soft fixation.
Continuing to adopt a variety of new spinal surgery methods, the department is leading domestic spine medicine.
The department is achieving good results not only in terms of basic research but also in spinal surgery tool and special material development at the affiliated spinal nerve research institute.
The six spinal neurosurgeons within the faculty work together to apply the most appropriate treatment and surgical method to each patient, based on the clinical discussions they have every morning.
The Spinal Neurosurgery Department of the Spine Hospital does not necessarily always prioritize surgical treatment.
Instead, the most appropriate surgery for patients who genuinely need surgery is conducted.
More than 1,300 spinal surgeries are conducted per year by the largest number of neurosurgeons at the department specialized in spine disorder compared to any other university hospital.
In addition, more than 50 thesis papers per year are published in domestic and overseas academic journals by members of the department.
